There are a few other expense items that you may incur working as a contractor and you can claim tax relief for these.
Internet access. Where private use is incidental the full cost of internet access can be claimed when supported by a VAT invoice.
Telephone. Some contractors will be required to use their home or mobile telephones for business calls. Claims must be supported by the front page of the telephone bill showing any VAT included and all business calls highlighted on supporting pages.
Training. Work related training courses can be claimed. The course needs to impart, instil, improve or reinforce any knowledge skills or personal qualities which are likely to prove useful in performing your duties or will better qualify you n the employment.
Professional subscriptions may be claimed by contractors who belong to professional bodies where the membership is necessary for the performance of their duties.
